Disaster Prevention & Mental Health Activities Through Art:

  • Mar 21, 2026 ~ Mar 22, 2026
  • MABA office, Mingalar Mandalay, water street, Ward-6. 3rd floor

The Japan Foundation, Yangon is pleased to invite the event of the disaster prevention/mental health activities through arts projects in Mandalay, titled; “What can art and artists do to raise awareness about the importance of disaster prevention and improve mental health”.

In Japan the month of September is generally designated as Natural Disaster Prevention month, associated with the Great Kanto Earthquake that occurred in September 1, 1923 and left many people dead or missing. With this concept; we create this activity consisting of exhibitions, presentations and workshops.

The event is scheduled on March 21 and 22 in Mandalay, a place of effect and just one year after the great earthquake in March 2025. This event is intended to remind and re-learn how to prepare for natural disasters, while also raising awareness of the mental health problems in the communities.

Anyone who is interested in participating in the workshop may register free of charge through the link below. As the workshop has limited capacity, participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis, and we will contact those who are able to join. The exhibition is open to the public with free admission, and the talk session on the exhibition day will follow the same registration process as the workshop. You may select the event you wish to participate in through the registration form.

The Japan Foundation, would like to ask you to participate in the art-making workshop to create the art as a record of our memories, and in turn to create a collective work of art to install the exhibition. Workshop and exhibition detail is as follow;
