The Japan Foundation, Yangon (JFYG), in collaboration with Gallery Ohmar, is pleased to present the traveling photography exhibition “Tokyo Before/After.”

This exhibition, created on the occasion of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, features a selection of approximately 80 works, in which works by photographers who had captured images of Tokyo in the 1930s-1940s are presented in juxtaposition with those taken after 2010.

We hope that the works of the Japanese photographers in this exhibition, through their specific imagery, will serve to encourage a deeper understanding of Tokyo as a vast city of many different faces.

The exhibition will be open at Gallery Ohmar from May 17 to 30, 2026, and the opening event will take place on May 16 (Saturday). Admission is free for this event, and participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Selected participants will be contacted after registration. Please register by May 13 (Wednesday), as spaces are limited.
