Calling for Application

 

The Japan Foundation Yangon (JFYG) invites collective groups and organizations in the field of arts and culture for cultural collaboration by offering grant as follow.

Asia Center Online Cultural Exchange Grant Program provides grant to partially cover expenses incurred by collective groups and institutions in the field of arts and culture, sports, or intellectual exchange among ASEAN countries and Japan, aiming to promote collaborative projects such as co-productions, joint researches, and projects to disseminate the results of these collaborative projects which will be carried out and based on online or digitally.  

The goal of the grant is to foster an awareness of empathy and coexistence among the people of ASEAN countries and Japan through online collaboration. 

  1. Eligibility

 

  1. Applicants should be non-profit organizations (e.g. NGO/NPOs , research institutes and academic associations) and collective group of artists, art institutions, cultural institutions, groups of scholars and researchers who are Myanmar nationals, can apply.
  2. In principle, the project should be carried out in the country of the Applicant and must be for non-commercial purpose.
  3. The Project should be implemented and completed by January/2022.
  4. The applicant should carry out the project as the group/institution and should cover part of the cost.
  5. Applicants must have a local bank account or have to receive the grant money at JFYG Office.

 

  1. Non-eligibility

 

  1. Applications for-profit organizations and profit-aimed projects are not accepted.
  2. Myanmar government and its administrative organs as ministries and agencies
  3. The following projects are not eligible:

 

(a) A project aiming for missionary or political activities, or for dissemination of a specific ideology, assertion or policy

(b) A project whose outcome is found to contribute only to a particular group

(c) A project relating to solicitation for capital or fund, debt relief, donation, advertisement, or the establishment of a new grant or award

(d) A project relating to the designing and construction of a building, a monument, etc.

(e) A project for the purpose of purchasing facilities, equipment, land, etc.

(f) A project whose main purpose is Japanese education or Japanese study

 

  1. Grant Coverage
  • Grants will be given on a cost-sharing basis.
  • JFYG’s contribution will not exceed USD 5,000.
  • The contribution of JFYG is limited to the expenses actually paid in the following budgetary items during the period of the grant.

a. Rental fees for studio and equipment

b. Honorarium/artist fee

c. Digital Publicity

d. Production of proceedings and reports

e. Online and Web Developing

f. Multimedia Production

  • JFYG’s grant cannot be used for the following items.

a. Salaries and social welfare expenses for the regular employees of the applying institution

b. Banquet and entertainment fees

c. Telephone, fax and postage fees

d. Office supplies

 

  1. Application Procedures and Deadlines
  • Application form, along with supporting documents, shall be submitted before the deadline stated below. Please send your application from email via info@jpf-mm.org.
  • Applications must arrive no later than around two months before the starting day of the project. The application is open throughout the year unless announced it is no more. However, the project must be completed and implemented before January/2022.
  • Attachment of additional documents about applicants and the details of projects are highly recommended for our consideration process (e.g. institution profile, artist/scholar profile, collaborating or supporting organization profile, budget plan, PR plan, etc.).

  1. Notification of the Grant Decision
  • Applicants will be notified of the screening results within one month after submission of the application.
  1. Process of Execution
  • When the grant approval is awarded, the amount of the grant will be paid in accordance with the Notice of Grant Approval and the Terms and Conditions of Grant.
  • The grantee will be asked to provide a brief of project details and press release for JFYG’s promotional process.
  • The grantee will be asked to submit the Final Report about the activities and summary of expenditures, etc. within one month after the project has been completed.
  • The amount of the grant will be subject to final adjustment upon review of the Final Report mentioned above.
  1. Disclosure of Information
  • As to projects JFYG supports, information such as the name of the applicant and project descriptions might be made public on the Japan Foundation’s public relations materials.
  • When JFYG receives a request for information based on the “Law Concerning the Disclosure of Information Held by Independent Administrative Institutions, etc.” (Law No. 140 of December 5, 2001) , as a general rule, submitted application forms and related materials will be disclosed, except for information stipulated by the law as something not to be discloses.
