Statement of Solidarity for Earthquake and Support for Earthquake-Affected Communities in Myanmar

The Japan Foundation, Yangon is deeply saddened by the devastating earthquake that struck central Myanmar on March 28, 2025.

Due to ongoing electricity disruptions in Yangon, the Japan Foundation Yangon Japanese Culture Center is offering emergency mobile phone charging services starting from April 1, 2025.

Please refer to the opening hours below and kindly follow the center’s rules during your visit. Japanese language learners are also welcome to study while charging their devices.

We sincerely wish for the swift recovery of the affected areas and communities. As a long-standing friend of Myanmar, the Japan Foundation will continue to provide as much support as possible.

Guidelines

– Each visitor may charge one mobile phone to ensure fair access for everyone.

– Please bring your own chargers, as we do not have extras available.

– Keep an eye on your belongings—the center is not responsible for lost or misplaced items.

– Remove your phone once fully charged to allow others to use the facility.

– Our generators will be paused from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, during which charging services will be unavailable.

– Due to limited parking space, please walk or use public transportation when visiting.
