Saturday Yoke Shin ( Papa no Obento Screening) & Presentation about Japanese Obento

Japan Foundation Yangon’s Saturday Yoke Shin program shows, this time, a family drama film, “Dad’s Lunch Box (Papa no obento)” with English subtitles. More than 260,000 likes have been received on the Twitter social media network. Based on a true story that has been re-tweeted over 80,000 times, It is the work of director FUKATSU Masakazu, who shot the music videos of famous bands such as andymori and ONE OK ROCK.
Before the movie screening, HAYAMI Yoko san will introduce and explain the art of making rice bowls, which is a Japanese food culture Washoku culture, and the participants will taste the rice bowls together.
Hayami Yoko san opened a cooking class in Yangon in 2015. In addition, using the ingredients of Burmese cuisine, Japanese cuisine, Myanmar, Introducing cuisines from Asia and other countries in a healthy and balanced way, he has written articles on new recipes and healthy management.
JFYG New Year Kakizome Performance

The Japan Foundation Yangon’s 2023 New Year Kakizome Shōdo performance was held last Saturday at the Culture Center. Shōdo artist Yume Aritgraphy did the Kakizome drawing performance.
Kakizome is a Japanese cultural practice of writing down one’s wishes on paper with a brush as the first word written at the beginning of the new year.
This year, the word “復」Fuku was chosen as the word for Kakizome of Japan Foundation Yangon. 「復」 means restoration and can be interpreted as “restore/resume”.「復」Fuku to to manifest the Japan Foundation Yangon’s art and cultural programs to be resume inorder to restore the cultural harmony of Japan and Myanmar that connecting as a bridge and to revive the dreams and hopes of Japanese language learners in Myanmar.
After the Shōdo performance, the participants drew the Kakizome words they wanted to draw in the Kakizome Trial writing corner. Through this event, according to the omens of the Khakizome words drawn by participants, we pray that the wishes, the hopes and the dreams can be revived.
Basic Shodo Class: Fourth Week

The second part of Basic Shodo Class starts in the fourth week with Kohitsu (hard pencil) writing lesson. Sensei firstly taught the students how to write Hiragana with pencil. After that, sensei taught the students about Nengajo phrases and how to write the phrases with hard pencil.
Kendo Club
On every Saturday, the Kendo Club continues to practice and do the club activities for beginner and senior classes. There are new club members who signed up for beginner class.
